Week 3: Bound

Oooohhhh boy, this movie!

It was pretty uncomfortable to watch. The first thing that came to my mind was uhh really? Lesbian softcore porn for male audience?

Then I got distracted by the background, especially with color. That scene struck me with bathroom, where Corky eavesdrop on Violet’s husband and mafia beating up some man in another bathroom. Red and white. Later again, the same bathroom with dead bodies in the tub. Red and white.

At the end of the movie, again, red and white. These colors make me rethink the movie, which turns into a “symbolic” movie. Red, is also known as seduction, violence, danger, anger, and adventure. White, of course, purity.

Basically, it is all about femme fatale. Where femme fatale characters would hide behind “purity” yet full of mysterious yet dangerous, but to me, red could be symbolized Violet’s husband and all the violence on the LGBTQIA+ community. As for white, it stands for the innocence of hidden Queer people such as Violet and a new beginning with Corkey and Violet running away from violence past life.

But it is still a lowkey lesbian softcore porn to me, but I do like the movie though haha
